So this game does not sport the highest toal of the night and that’s likely because Vegas does not see the Nets cracking a hundred points tonight. The leagues fourth highest scoring team heading into tonight, however they rank in the bottom ten of offensive efficiency. They’ll go head to head with the leagues number one defense, the Boston Celtics, and they’ll do so without their best player D’Angelo Russell. Not to mention Boston will be missing their worst defensive player. This is a lock down defense, and a high powering offense facing the leagues worst defense. This has a chance to get ugly despite just a 7 point spread. Many of the Celtics will be in play but lets start with the lone Net in Spencer Dinwiddie. With both D’Angelo Russell and Jeremy Lin out, Dinwiddie will be forced into big minutes. With that pairing out, Dinwiddie’s usage jumps about 4%, while he had a 40 FP game without D’Angelo Russell earlier this season. With other shooters surrounding him, locked into difficult matchups, Dinwiddie may have to do it all himself.
Bigs that can shoot have been a thing against the Nets all season as we’ve seen with Nurkic, Jokic, Vucevic, and Brook Lopez. While Horford isn’t a shoot first big, he does spend a lot of time outside the paint and could find space to shoot. At the very least, he’s going to see some usage in this spot and will be the big I want to target this evening. While Kyrie is back I think we can still find value in the young guns, Tatum and Brown. The Nets are one of the worst defensively and even if this game turns into a blowout they tend to see fourth quarter minutes. The Nets tend to struggle against shooters as well, and both are capable of lighting it up from anywhere on the court.
